Social Media frees Egypt! …. sort of . . .


Worldwide, people are talking about the historically significant resignation of President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt after 30 years as ruler. The people of Egypt staged an 18 day revolution which ended today as the president stepped down.

While the event is obviously of political and historical significance, it also showed how people are using social media to communicate on a large scale across a wide variety of societal, geographical and cultural barriers.

As President Obama said, ” the people of Egypt have spoken, their voices have been heard . . . ” (CWTV).
