I hope that everyone is a having a wonderful National FFA Week! For those of you who don’t know, FFA is a national youth group devoted to building premiere leadership in youth and young adults from 7th grade through college.
“The National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America) envisions a future in which all agricultural education students will discover their passion in life and build on that insight to chart the course for their educations, career and personal future. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education” (National FFA website)
This week is officially set aside as National FFA Week. FFA members across the United States are participating in events to share FFA with their communities and across their states. Here in Tennessee, State FFA Officers celebrate National FFA Week by conducting a statewide Goodwill Tour. Officers traveled around the state visiting sponsors, potential sponsors, agricultural corporations, FFA chapters and student groups. Each year, UT-Knoxville’s Collegiate FFA chapter serves as host for a luncheon that unites local FFA chapters and sponsors to meet the officers on their Goodwill Tour. This was my first year participating in National FFA Week festivities, but I have had a wonderful time.
My fellow graduate assistants and I made a video about the week for our YouTube video series, “Ag In Under 10”. Hope you enjoy!
