So, in honor of Good Friday, I thought it would be nice to post about someone who is doing good! One such group was the collection of fans who supported the Fallon Colbert Project earlier in the year. TV show hosts Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert teamed up to raise money for the awesome non-profit known as DonorsChoose.org. According to their website, DonorsChoose.org is described as “an online charity connecting you to classrooms in need.” The site allows teachers to post their classroom needs, and then donors can choose who to donate to from the projects posted.
The project raised a large amount of money, $26,000, which was then matched by NBC Universal studies to create a total of $86,000 in donations! To see how this project started, view the video here: Colbert Fallon Project Inception.
The real video is posted on Hulu, but since I couldn’t embed it, I embedded the mirrored YouTube version. The original video is posted here.
If you watch the video closely, you will notice an awesome QR Code. Don’t know what a QR code is? Check out my earlier blog post here or the awesome blog post by ElwinPR. The QR code in the Fallon-Colbert performance of “Friday” linked to an awesome bonus video in which Fallon calls the successful people who find it “Tech Savvy Nerds”. Follow the link below if you aren’t a “Tech Savvy Nerd” and didn’t locate the QR code yourself.
Hopefully, you will consider donating to DonorsChoose.org on this beautiful Good Friday!
a tech savvy nerd 🙂
p.s. I tried to make my use of the word “awesome” as redundant as Rebecca Black’s “Friday” lyrics. I feel I failed. 😦
